Starting out in the floristry world18 August 2023Starting out in the floristry world …..You don't need any formal qualifications to become a florist, but there's a range of courses out there to help you grow your knowledge. You can study floristry at colleges across the country, from a Level 1 Diploma for beginners right up to Level 5. It all depends on your circumstances, I needed to learn and earn as I had a mortgage and financial commitments that meant a full time collage course was out of the question, so I opted for a modern apprenticeship which enabled me to be bench trained and get paid whilst I was learning, it was a 2 year course which I throughly enjoyed and was amazed by the variety of flowers and orders coming through the shop , I was lucky as I landed my apprenticeship at a busy flower shop on Ecclesall Road , a prestigious shopping area with customers ranging from the rich and famous , contracts with hotels, bars and restaurants and well respected funeral directors. My journey had began and I was doing something I loved …. I gained my qualification 2 years on ….. but I knew i needed to grow further……so what was next for me on the road to floristry happiness ….. my own little flower shop was calling ….
